According to the President’s Budget Message for 2016, the country is still “faced with the daunting tasks of sustaining [it’s] upward growth and helping more Filipinos out of poverty.” Despite the lower than targeted growth of 6.1% in 2014, the National Government (NG) maintains that in the next two years it shall achieve at least a 7% growth—and that it can reduce poverty incidence among population from 25.8% (as of 1 st semester, 2014) to at least 20% by 2016.
