A 17.7% unemployment rate (roughly 7.3 million unemployed Filipinos) rate was recorded in April 2020, according to a report by the Philippine Statistical Authority (PSA) based on the Labor Force Survey (LFS).  This is the highest unemployment rate posted in recent years, possibly reflecting the adverse impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Unemployment was recorded at 5.1% in April 2019 and 5.3% in the January 2020 LFS.
