The Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 aims for the country to improve in the following dimensions in the Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI): Voice and Accountability (60% from 52% baseline); Regulatory Quality (60% from 53%); Government Effectiveness (62% from 58%); and Control of Corruption (50% from 42%). However, the WGI 2022 report states that as of 2021, actual performance of the Philippines for these dimensions is still below the desired PDP outcome(s). A comparative performance of the country per political regime from 1996-2021 is presented in Figure 1 for each governance dimension.
