The Philippine labor force increased slightly by about 6.3% from 41.31 million in October 2014 to 41.34 million in October 2015. In contrast, during the same period, the labor force participation rate declined from 64.3% to 63.4%. The unemployment rate also went down slightly from 6.0% to 5.7%. However, the underemployment rate remained high, decreasing by about 1% from 18.7% to 17.6%.

As of October 2015, the number of unemployed stood at 2.3 million while the number of underemployed was at 6.8 million. As such, the number of underemployed was almost three times that of the unemployed, making underemployment of greater concern.
