Dr. Romulo Miral Jr.’s professional interests cover socioeconomic policy formulation and reform in general, and fiscal space, tax policy and administration, public expenditure management, national government budget analysis, and intergovernmental fiscal relations in particular.
His career in government spans nearly three decades, most of it spent at the House of Representatives Secretariat. At present he is the Director General of the Congressional Policy and Budget Research Department. He has lectured to undergraduate and graduate students at the UP School of Economics, and currently lectures to graduate students at the UP National Center for Public Administration and Governance. He has also engaged in consultancy work in the various projects of the USAID, AusAid, GTZ, World Bank and Asian Development Bank.
Dr. Miral obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics (cum laude) from the University of the Philippines and a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University.
